Mangrove Snapper
Appearance: Mangrove Snapper (Gray Snapper) are shaped similarly to Red Snapper, but are greyish-green in overall appearance, with varying amounts of brick-red shading. They also sport a pair of formidable canine teeth.

Size: The average size of Mangrove Snapper taken inshore ranges from 8 to 12 inches, although 16 to 18 inch fish aren't uncommon in certain areas.

Where it's found: Mangrove Snapper spend the majority of their time hanging tight to structure such as jetties, bridge pilings and docks.

What it eats: Mangrove Snapper dine primarily on shrimp, crab and small baitfish.

Top lures & baits: Live shrimp, sand fleas, small crabs and finger mullet are good natural baits. Small jigs and swimbaits are the best artificial lures.

How it tastes: Mangrove Snapper are excellent eating.
