Ideal Bait for Covering Water for Reds and Specks
In recent years, saltwater fishermen have discovered the advantage of using spinnerbaits to cover water when searching for redfish. As is the case in freshwater, saltwater fishermen find spinnerbaits to be user-friendly, attractive to fish and easy to fish over broad expanses. Proponents of using spinnerbaits in saltwater saw the lures combine the "flash of a spoon" with the action of a lure. However, one unique saltwater spinnerbait actually combines a spoon with a spinner.
The Nemire Spin Ripper is a weedless spoon attached to a spinnerbait harness. Because it's weedless and flashy, it is ideal for fishing over grass flats. The wobble of the spoon and thump of the blades gets the attention of nearby fish, as does the small rattle attached to the spoon.
The Spin Ripper comes in two sizes (1/4 & 1/2 oz) and in either single or tandem blade models. It also comes in a variety of colors. Although the gold/gold and silver/silver are pretty much in line with the most common spoon colors, the painted versions are good choices as well. With color combinations including white, chartreuse, red, black and the aforementioned silver and gold, the Spin Ripper combines the most popular saltwater lure colors with the effectiveness of both a spoon and spinnerbait. These elements make the Spin Ripper an ideal bait for covering water on shallow to mid-depth grass flats. And, don't be surprised when a sow speck jumps up and grabs one - redfish are the only thing they attract.
