Striped Bass
Appearance: The largest of all bass species, Striped Bass are distinguished by their size as well as their uniformed horizontal stripes.

Size: Most Striped Bass caught in Texas range between 10 and 20 pounds, although larger fish are common in some waters.

Where it's found: Striped Bass are found in most major rivers and reservoirs in Texas.

What it eats: Striped Bass eat a variety of other fish, primarily shad.

Top lures & baits: Live shad is considered the top natural bait, while topwater plugs, crankbaits, spoons and jigs are the best artificial lures.

How it tastes: Striped Bass provide a tasty fillet, but aren't often targeted as a food fish in Texas.
